Teacher 'Tacha
Natacha Uriarte, also known as Teacher 'Tacha, graduated with honors in 2010 and received the Dr. Shannon Perry Achievement Award from San Francisco State University. She holds a bachelor's degree in Child and Adolescent Development, with a concentration in children and families.
Prior to being the teacher and director at CVPP, she has 15 years of experience in education and managing her own childcare business. She has volunteered with several different non-profit organizations including Volunteer Center of the East Bay, where she worked directly with their Youth Action Program Coordinator. She has also interned at a few low-income elementary schools over the years.
Teacher 'Tacha was born in Colombia (South America), and her family immigrated to the United States when she was 4 years old. She is fluent in Spanish. Her mother has been a preschool teacher for over 25 years, so Natacha grew up going to her mother's preschool every day after school. Her mother-in-law is a Site Supervisor for a preschool in San Francisco, so early childhood education is a passion for her entire family! Teacher 'Tacha currently lives in Martinez with her husband and two boys (aged 2 and 5). She is extremely passionate about play-based early childhood education and being active with kids outside. She is patient and works with the children in a fun, loving, nurturing environment.
CVPP was the 2021, 2020, 2019, 2018, 2017, 2016, 2015, and 2014 Winner of the Parents Press Best of the East Bay award for independent preschools.
